About the play
Nothing Personal follows Claire, a woman who pays attention.
To films. To strangers. To the things people say accidentally and the things they appear to do on purpose. She is occasionally intrusive, and generally working with more information than anyone has asked her to collect. Over the course of a series of encounters Claire attempts to make sense of the people around her without revealing quite as much about herself.
Nothing Personal is a new comedy about looking closely, getting things wrong, and getting things right for the wrong reasons. It is funny, intimate, and a little strange.
None of this is evidence. Unless it is.
About the Playwright
Kyla Klein is a writer and performer based on Whidbey Island. She studied improv at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, where she trained and performed, and is currently training with Stella Adler Acting Studio. Her literary work has also been published.
Her work is interested in character, comedy, language, and the strange amount of significance people are capable of assigning to very small things.
Nothing Personal is her first play. Klein is independently producing its world premiere at the Black Box Theater in Langley, Washington, in January 2027.
